Basler: Ter Stegen made many mistakes at Barcelona; suggests Musiala be Germany captain

Bayern legend Basler recently accepted an interview with Bild and talked about Bayern's prospects for the new season, the new captain of the German team, Neuer's replacement and Kane.

If Bayern fails to win the championship for two consecutive seasons, it will be disastrous, knowing that they have spent a lot of money in the past few years. I think Bayern will go all out this season and strive to become the champion. However, Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Leverkusen will also be competitors for the championship.

Frankfurt. They have been ranked higher and higher in recent years and have completed good signings. I believe Frankfurt has a chance to enter the top four. They have home support and enthusiastic fans.

If Neuer wants to play football for a longer time at the age of 38, it is enough to play only for Bayern without having to participate in national team games during the offseason. For him personally, it is the right decision to withdraw from the German team now.

As for his replacement, Ter Stegen made a lot of mistakes in Barcelona last season. I have always had Trapp on my list and he has been great over the years. I feel he is the most underrated goalkeeper in Germany and I would be happy to see Trapp and Ter Stegen compete for the goalkeeper spot for Germany.

I am not too happy with Kimmich being the captain of the German team. I will not support this decision. You can't give more responsibility to a player like him because it would be a mistake. However I can imagine a very young player being awarded the captain's armband. That would be Musiala, the lad will be in the team for the next few years and he should be one of the candidates.

My only wish this season is that Kane wins a title, he is humble, a great person and a world-class striker. Just for him, I also hope Bayern Munich can win the treble. Kane deserves a championship trophy.
