Eriksson has rich coaching experience. He has taken over the national teams of England, Mexico, Côte d'Ivoire and the Philippines. He is also the first foreign coach to coach the England team. Eriksson led England to the 2002 World Cup, the 2004 European Cup, and the 2006 World Cup, all of which stopped in the quarter-finals, and led Côte d'Ivoire to the World Cup in South Africa. In 2019, Eriksson led the Philippines to the Asian Cup and faced the Chinese team.
