Szczesny: It was unwise for Juventus to terminate my contract, but I don't hate it; if I don't have a job, I'll be unemployed

Polish goalkeeper Szczesny talked about leaving Juventus in an interview with Eleven Sport. He believes that it is not a wise decision for the club to give up on him. He also said that if he cannot find a suitable next club, he will be unemployed for a year.

Juventus officially terminated the contract with Szczesny this week, and the latter accepted a severance package that was less than his annual salary. The Polish goalkeeper left the team after seven years and became a free agent.

Szczesny has been doing individual training before the official termination of the contract, instead of returning to the team to participate in joint training. Juventus has equipped him with a goalkeeper coach. Regarding this situation, Szczesny explained: "The sports director called me. He said that my daughter was born and if I wanted, I could stay in Poland. They would send me a coach and be on call until the end of August. So I am satisfied with this."

Szczesny added: "I feel that after playing for the club for so long, when everyone else is training together, I shouldn't go to the club and then train on the sidelines."

When the host asked Szczesny if he regretted the termination of the contract, he said: "I don't think this is a wise decision made by the club, but I have no resentment at all. From a sports point of view, I don't think this decision will stand. I hope I am wrong."

Finally, when asked what Szczesny would do if he did not find a team to sign in the summer window, the goalkeeper answered without hesitation: "I would join the 'Coconut Club'. I know I won't even sit on the bench. I will waste a year sitting in the stands and making money."
