According to TyC Sports, former Athletic Bilbao captain Muniain will go to Argentina today for a medical examination.
The 31-year-old Muniain came from the youth training of Athletic Bilbao and left the team after the end of the 2023/2024 season. In the 23/24 season, Muniain played 25 times for Athletic Bilbao in all competitions, scored 3 goals and had no assists.
The media reported that Muniain will fly to Argentina today and undergo a medical examination at the River Plate Club in the afternoon. If all goes well, he will sign a contract with the team until December 2025.
The player's agent said in an interview before: "Muniain is 31 years old this year and in very good physical condition. He wants to realize his dream, which is to play for River Plate. He doesn't care about money or leaving his hometown. He just wants to play for River Plate and win the Libertadores Cup. Muniain rejected some other attractive invitations.
